Later chapters discuss the related topics of telemetry systems (Chap. 3) and verification techniques for rainfall observations and forecasts (Chap. 4).
When measurements are received via a telemetry system, these are typically screened for outliers through comparisons with historical maximum values and readings from nearby gauges.
